Trexler Nature Preserve

Anyone Interested in Hiking/Desiging Next Phase of Trex?

I'm heading up to Trex tomorrow, mid morning. I was going to start hiking the land where the next trails will be going in to connect us with the Firemans Trail and eventually, the Central Range.
Jon, Mike, Chris and anyone else interested in getting in on the ground level of these trails?
If so, let me know or call my cell. 610-393-3493
I am also available Weds or Thursday afternoons as well.

Is there an invasive plant strategy at Trexler ?

I'm wondering if the County has a strategy to manage the invasive plant species in Trexler.
Has it come up at meetings?
It was my musing of choice while clearing broken Autumn Olive from the trails earlier this month.

trail conditions at Trex as of Wednesday morning

I managed to swing a ride this morning - it was raining of course but otherwise the trail conditions were rather good. All the traffic Trex has been getting has worked in great, fast line. The only slippery places were the wooded areas around 1/2 pipe two because of the oak leaves on top of the hardpack. Water was running everywhere though and even across the trail in a few spots but no mud no erosion no trees down and no hunters. Still had my blazin bells on just in case.

Questions about Trexlertown Preserve

Hello,

I'm going to be visiting Schnecksville for Thanksgiving and will be about 3 miles from the Nature Preserve and want to ride. A couple of questions. The weather forecast is for rain on Tuesday and Wednesday. How is trail drainage? Will it be rideable or should I avoid it. Assuming they are rideable, can I do it on a rigid flat bar cross bike with fat tires? I'm headed elsewhere after Schnecksville and want a more versatile bike than my Specialized FSR Xc that I would usually ride. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm gonna leak out some good news tidbits here about Trex

OK, I'm gonna leak out some info from our meeting today.......hopefully it's all accurate.

1) We asked for some 'open field' type trails, but after some discussion about possible conflicts with PGC cultivation, they gave us the whole southern portion of the North Range to work with. Our primary goal will be to build a trail down to the Firemans Trail.

2) We can do as we see fit to upgrade Firemans.

3) We were given a portion of the Central Range to work on.

4) The mountain bike trail system will be completely separate from other users!

trail work/expansion

Hi. I've recently been introduced to the Trexler trails and am loving them so far. I spent some time out working on the trails earlier this week, smoothing out a few areas that had been rough cut with the mini dozer. I'm interested in putting in more time maintaining and expanding the trails there and would like to talk with anyone who has been involved so far. I have extra time on my hands right now and could put in more hours these next few weeks. I have my own ideas about the trail but would love to hear from some of the other regulars. Thanks!
