Trexler Nature Preserve

Trex Chalkboard I

That other thread was getting long.
Dave, Rob and I found some cool stuff, as Dave said. This is approx what we are thinking will work.

The concrete spring area is cool topography. The Shale Face is "heart in mouth" and the scenic clearing is really scenic. So we wanted to include all three.

The AO is not nearly as dense as it was out of the parking lot and bypass trail.

Trex Tools

I just picked up two more heavy duty anvil loppers and 3 packs of flags.

There are two other loppers out, I think.

I will put the new stuff in the lock box and maybe bring a few more pick mattocks from Sals on Sunday

Can everyone store all the VMB tools in the lock box now?

(Except Rob, the Mcleod you have won't fit)

Any GPS unit recommendations?

I looks like a GPS unit is in the cards for the VMB trail crew one way or the other. I'm checking into which unit to get but I'd like to know if anyone has any recommendations on particular brands/models and also vendors.

I'm also curious if it might be better to have some kind of microcomputer or even a phone that you can use as a GPS but also plot out your position on google Earth in real time. But a GPS would be fine!

The whole GPS thing will really come in handy negotiating the Atumn Olive jungle at Trexler and the eventual western side out Sals.
