Trexler Nature Preserve

Trex News 3/2012

We met with the County last week. Here is a brief summary of the latest issues:

1) Frank Maguire's report along with Lorne from DCNR convinced Bob Stiffler to hire a Professional Trail Organization to create a Master Plan for the mountain biking trail network. There is RecTap (sp?) available for parks in need of professional guidance.

2) Bob asked we not build any new trails until the plan is done except we have permission to hand build "The Glade Trail" to get us from the existing network down to the Fireman's Trail.

3) We have permission to finish and clean up the existing network

Trex set backs

I know I said the hp3 would be done by now but the skid steer is still broke waitin on parts.should have it back wed.today my friend chris and were up and did hand work for about 4 hours shaped up some of the new stuff looks good.real muddy right now with the freeze and Melting

Flagged

On the Orange blaze trail between sign posts 3 and 4. You'll see it just about the lowest point on that trail heading down hill into the AO towards the covered bridge. I think I can see a pink tape marker on the uphill side of the trail from the tape i placed. If you come up the trail from the bridge you'll see an orange tape on your left about 3/4 of the way up.

Need construction trailer and manly truck to pull it

My buddy owns a nursery and is willing to donate some leftover native stock. He has some 12' red maples, oaks, sycamores & white pines. Maybe 10 to 12 trees that he would be willing to donate to our Club for Trex. They have sizable root balls so we need a heavy duty trailer.

I got the all clear from Bob Stiffler.

wanted: 2 men and a truck

We need 2 guys and a 4wd pickup, a real work truck with an open bed and hitch (unlike Cyhilic's fancy man show piece who's tires never leave the pavement) for the purpose of towing a bale chopper around the current trail work area at Trexler. I have a fairly flexible schedule, weekdays not excluded. This should be a rather simple assignment 2 hours with capable crew. I will round up the supplies, we rally at Action Rental.

Your support of the cause is greatly appreciated.

First time riding trex

Would just like to say that i was very impressed w/ my first time riding at trex... this was the perfect place to test out the 09 enduro I just got. Biggrin In addition myself and a few friends will try to help out with some future trail building.... Keep up the good work.

Lost Wheel at Trex

VMB was contacted by someone who forgot their 29'r front wheel with Kenda tire and disc brake rotor in the parking lot today. He went back to get it, but it was gone. So someone picked it up between 1:30 - 4. Hopefully it was one of our members trying to do a favor.

Post here if you have it.
