Post current trail conditions at Trex
It was brought to my attention that some people might not know where or what Trex is. Trex is short for Trexler Nature Preserve and is located in beautiful Schnecksville, PA. It is the area of land next to the Lehigh Valley Zoo (formerly the Trexler Game Preserve) Schnecksville is just north of Allentown on Route 309, approximately 5-6 miles north of Route 22. The vegetation is dense but the terrain underneath is gonna be awesome for riding.
Folks,
TB Project is up to date with regards to Trexler Nature Preserve. If you downloaded the PA trails you should delete them and download again to get the updates. REMEMBER to Check In!

Hey Trex Riders,
I just had a good discussion with Wildlands. We've been given the greenlight to continue riding Killdozer until the removal begins again this summer. This is a positive outcome, and I think shows that the Wildlands and the county value our relationships and understand the benefit mountain biking brings to the park. I still believe completely that the future of mountain biking at Trexler is very bright, as long as we focus on maintaining a positive relationship with the land managers and focus on long-term opportunities.
Here are a few important details:
If you haven't been up to Trex lately, you should try to get up there. There has been a lot of activity and the local trail elves have been doing a great job of clearing back the AO - what's left of it and clearing the trails of debris.
In a word, conditions are fantastic and the forecast for the week should mean great trail conditions for next weekend's event.
I just heard from Wildlands that work is expected to start about Sept 14 to remove the AO. I also heard that they will be cutting it down to the ground and chipping it in place.
As we have discussed before, please stay out of active work areas but once the stuff is cut, feel free to clear the original path of debris.
And if you're planning to ride - hope you have tubeless!! Remember the days when the trails were first cut - I would have 7-10 thorns in each tire!
Please post up to the FB pages.

Just a quick heads up that the Morning Call is doing a piece on the grasslands restoration at Trex. It might be out Tuesday or Wednesday next week so keep an eye out if you are interested.
As a side note: based on my short conversation with them today, I wouldn't expect too much detail.

As you all know, Lehigh County has a very positive partnership with VMB and Wildlands Conservancy. Continuing that spirit of cooperation and support I am very happy to report that Lehigh County has provided a tentative plan to both restore a significant portion of grasslands while being able to maintain the mountain bike trail network in the Preserve.
Here is where we are:
· The grasslands restoration project we have all heard about will begin in mid-late September. A contractor has been selected to do the work and we expect them to start in the area adjacent to the game lands.
Please share on your Facebook walls, etc, and encourage people to sign and SHARE, thank you! We need to let Lehigh County Parks and the Wildlands Conservancy know how many Lehigh County citizens value these mountain bike trails!
