Pooh's Wood Skills Trail

Well some good news here. I just received permission from Bob to put a skills trail in at Pooh's Woods----and Pooh's Woods only. I'm gonna insist that no high consequence stuff be put in or I'll be the one chainsawing it out on a Wednesday. Cornut

Soooo, I'm sure Scoot will be quite happy this area will be revisited and revitalized. Poke

When you exit Half-Pipe 1 HP1, you will make a left, then do Pooh's Woods which will flow into HP2.

The main trail, Brian's Trail, will still stay intact as the main trail with various side-loops .

I had a breakthrough yesterday

I've always been one to take a rather laid back approach to biking; I never really paid attention to why or how people go fast on the trails, being more the type to just leisurely bump along.

I've posted a few things lately about classes that I took or will be taking, and I have to say, out of alllll the money I've spent on cycling, the $250 I spent last month for classes probably has been some of the best money I've spent yet on the sport!

Half Pipe Modifications

Does anyone know what the deal is with little kickers that have been added to old HP1 (now the second leg of THE Halfpipe)? In my opinion, these elements actually detract from the flow of the trail.

What say the internet? Are these features unsanctioned and disliked, or am I out of line?

Note: Strava times do not figure into my reasons for this post.

FOUND PHONE

Found a Blackberry sitting on the garbage can( iPhone users, insert joke here ) at the Mill Creek Rd. parking lot. Don't know if someone else found it and set it there, but because it was supposed to rain, i moved it under the horse stable. it is sitting on the top of the tire of that old piece of farm equipment .
these are links to the pics i posted on FaceBook, cause i can't figure out how to load them up here.

Trex Assistance Needed

We have made decent progress over the winter and are prepared to move on to more major trail building. What is needed now is aggressive Autumn Olive trimming, cutting, destroying. We need help. This is not a an organized trail day but an independent call of duty solo or in groups. This will allow more flexible effort to get the job done. You can call me or Greg for access, tools, or guidance or just pick a section of face slappers and start hacking. One thing to remember is pruning won't cut it, hack the offending Autumn Olive at the stump. Thank you for your support.

Trexler Loop

This route covers everything on Trex Map except a very small piece of Yellow.
It does the top half of Purple Half Pipe twice. Print directions with map and you can't go wrong.
My estimate is between 10-11 miles.

Trexler Happenings

Update on Trex happenings:

The County:

They love Broken Arrow --"That's a REAL NICE TRAIL".
We have permission to do the following work below.

Fireman's Trail:

Andrew has dingo'ed the Firemans Trail. A few rollers needs some machine rework, but otherwise it can use hand finishing.
The creek crossing will either get armored or get boardwalked. To be determined
The marsh crossing will get boardwalked. I have a bunch of recycled PT and will buy some stringers. We may be out on Sunday 3/17 doing this.

Trees:

Current Trex Happenings, Dec 2012

Here's whats currently happening:

1) Andrew has the trail signs and the County just dug up some sign posts for us. We may need some help installing these and I will need to buy bolts/hardware and maybe a post hammer (~$15?). As soon as the signposts are in I'll post a trailwork day

2) The County has dug holes for the donated sycamore and red maple trees sitting by the horse stable. Tentatively, Andrew and I are gonna plant them this Saturday the 22nd.
