One my NC crew is coming up

A buddy of mine is coming up to race the US Open, and coming possibly as early as the first diablo race, the week leading up to the US Open so I'm thinking we so him some of this rocky technical that he doesn't get back down in NC(its tech, but a different kind of tech)...i'm thinking some of the old school South Mountain DH (both sides)...he does XC as well so he'll be out lookin for some guides when i can't get out

Intro to Sals

Finally, I got Abbie out to Sals for the first time yesterday evening.

I set the evening up much like an easy to bail out novice ride. We parked on Constitution's middle lot and rode the road back up to the red and headed toward the Spanky. She had to walk a few sections that cut through the boulder field, but I expected that. Once on the Spanky it was clear sailing for her, only 2 or 3 dabs and a short stop to help and say Hi to Sarah L. and Scott and then down to the road.

i'm sure

we're all either ridin' hard or training hard :cornut:
i'm all over the place with cycling and who knows if the forumula will work. The funny thing is they say "it's simple as riding a bike" that person should be shot::tongue:

Western North Carolina Road Trip

Looking for some advice for a trip to NC.

If you've been there, I'm interested in learning about the Pisgah region (DuPont State Forest, etc.) Looking at three days of riding...

1) Your top picks for trails not to miss

2) Good place to stay. Thinking Asheville, but curious if there's a certain area -- maybe on the outskirts -- that makes most sense. Looking for reasonably cheap and proximity to trail heads maybe with a place to get a beer at night.

3) Any other ideas/recommendations?

What's in your toolbox?

So, Robbie, Sara and Chris Talotta (AKA Hammy) go to the Cat Classic this weekend. Chris has bike troubles and needs to fix it. He works with Rob and knows his tool boxes are a mishmash of junk and parts and a few ancient tools. Chris called me up to ask if it is a Vegan thing that Rob had, uh, vegetable oil in his tool box. I told Chris that Rob actually replaces all the dinosaur oils in his shocks with a morally correct veggie derivative and I think he believed me.

What do YOU think Rob uses it for?

the $500 tube

usa cycling's 2nd ultra endur race was a twelve hour last weekend down in tennessee. There was a pretty big pay out ( or at least big to a professional mt biker $1500 for 1st , theN $1000, then $500) so i knew some tough guys would be there. I went down without a pit crew but used tinkers crew who turned out to be amazing help. So about 10 minutes into the race tinker gets a flat. you would think after 3 decades of racing he would have atube with him. you would think. well he didnt. and here is my problem. im way too nice with no competitive edge.

belefonti (even impresses me)

some of you may know Mike Belefonti as the loudest and most obnoxious rider in the LV. he has become a good friend of mine and always my loudest fan(even though he's usually cursing and calling me a pussy). Well, a couple months back he was diagnosed with non-hogkins(sp) lymphoma which of course put a damper on his proposed racing calender of like fifteen 24 hr races or something crazy like that(sometime the nice ones aren't too smart) His treatments are going well and has even snuck in some rides with me. So to the part that impressed me.
