usa cycling's 2nd ultra endur race was a twelve hour last weekend down in tennessee. There was a pretty big pay out ( or at least big to a professional mt biker $1500 for 1st , theN $1000, then $500) so i knew some tough guys would be there. I went down without a pit crew but used tinkers crew who turned out to be amazing help. So about 10 minutes into the race tinker gets a flat. you would think after 3 decades of racing he would have atube with him. you would think. well he didnt. and here is my problem. im way too nice with no competitive edge. or i just don't care enough, after all it's just a real long bike ride. So i stopped and gave him my tube from my man purse and hauled ass out of there thinking i could keep the gap. well it worked for 8 or 9 hours and he caught me during a bad lap. i wasnt eating quite enough since sarah wasnt there, she is usually in charge of that. at this point he was hard to continue cause i knew i would be out of the money and i was getting kranky. i kept moving though and kept a nice gap behind me . i could actually chill for the rest of the race without getting caught by the next crew of hemmer heads. So in the end nat ross(gary fisher) got 1st. Josh ?(giant) got 2nd . and tinker got 3rd. These are 3 dudes that only ride a bike for a living . i guess i'm happy with 4th. i hope tinker enjoyed the tube that maybe costed me $500.
