Obsession vs. Passion

So I am in my driveway yesterday working on my bike yet again. My neighbor, Mike, yells across with a smile and says, "Rudy, you are obsessed!" and my response is "No, just passionate."

What is the fine line between passion and obsession? What are the characteristics between the two? :puzzled:

I am on this website during all my prep periods constantly hitting the refresh and recent post buttons.

Maybe I am obsessed? Is this a bad thing? :puzzled:

Jump Jams

May 13th right after the French Creek MASS race, Ted is holding a killer jump jam at his house near Downingtown, PA, only 16 miles from French Creek. He'll have the usual beer and burgers and music and possibly a band! Come see the new stuff, unwind after the race and tell ridiculous stories of how fast you went through the rocks. Come watchthe XC crowd try to jump! There are literally lines there for everyone, so you'll get to jump something. Ted's rocks -- come on out to it. We'll post directions here.

am standard ride

Yesterday was the first time riding with all of you besides don, doug & lori, joe and cindy and greg. I really wanted to talk with you guys more but with my pivot bolt backing out every 15 minutes it was tough stopping all the time. I had a great time anyway, it's my favorite trail up there. hope to ride again soon. rudy, that gold link will last a very long time i always carry them. thanks for posting the ride!!

Fueling the engine

After a fenominal ride on the Am Stand and a $hi++y ride along the road to get back to the car it was decided that a few of us would go into town and get a beer and some grub. So, after some nice conversation, a yummy pastrami rueben w/fries and 2 beers I head home around 4:30

just realized

looking at my goals and who i have to beat to reach them.........i need to ride like jay says "in rooms in my head i've never been to before" did you ever get that feeling that your way in over your head?????:shocked::out::jawdrop:

Good Old Days

Seem to be back, and I'd have to give that credit to the Ride Scheduler and, of course, Bob.

Anyway, 21 people showed up for the ride. Wow. Rode the Standard backwards from the usual way, which I liked better.

Hats off to TonyD138 for hanging in there. He kept plugging away and Rudy showed him some pointers. Hopefully, he rides some more with us at Sals.

Some cold beers and good food after and I am whooped.

I just got kicked in the Nuts.

No, it has nothing to do with my performance at greenbriar today. That I can live with. We took off today, and I had one of my best Sport Starts ever I went out into the single track in 7th Place and quickly found myself hanging in third place, nut to but with the 1st and 2nd place riders. We put a pretty big gap on the field, and I know for a fact that the gap was pretty big cause when I was changing my flat it seemed like forever before the rest of the field caught up.

Another riding weekend

The Fiancee (yeah I said it ok) and her daughter wanted to do a little ride this morning since the sun was out and the birds were chirping. Off to the towpath we go. I mention how nice it would be to eat lunch in New Jersey, Ashley say "cool, I'm hungry" 14 miles to NJ and we eat lunch on the Delaware.
But what goes down must go up. The ride home was a lot less enthuasiastic, except for the couple we saw fornicating in the woods. But we made it back for a 5.5 hour excursion. Both girls were like "wow that wiped me out".

not peaking, but trying to get there

i've told people that sometimes you won't know it but you'll be on a ride and for some reason you feel good, you feel strong, you don't complain, you actually have fun. wether your training or getting back into shape, my experience is there are those rides where you see the results of training. I actually don't know if i'm improving, that's for the results to judge but i did have that feeling of having the training routine showing some signs of progress.
