sals at night

Best ride ever. I look back on this winter, so many awesome night rides when the temps were between 20 to 30 degrees. Sometimes I would drive up and get out of the car and think, this is going to suck. But once we would get moving they were awesome. I love seeing the lights of the rider ahead of me negotiating the spanky, coming at me on the switch back, and seeing the lights of the rider behind.

Up the boulder trail

Anybody ride up the boulder trail at Sals? We were going backwards on the ride yesterday and Joe G. said... lets ride up the Boulder. I said okay thinking it would be a nice day for a hike. It's surprisingly rideable going up I found out. I think I dabbed and walked just about the same amount I do going down that thing.

RIDING NEAR KNOEBELS

Does anyone know of any trails near knoebels? I'm taking the family there camping next month and would like to ride. Singeltrack would be nice but I would also take a rail trail or something that my 4 year old daughter can ride her 2 wheeler on. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Newbie

Hello all, Name here is Chris. I've been lurking around the forums for a little while now so I figured I'd chime in and introduce myself. Born and raised in the Valley, been riding some form of a bike since I was 5. Finished school and entered the real world...bike riding went to the sideline. 10yrs and 20 lbs. later I'm back into it. I have some other financial responsibilities so I don't have the greatest bike in the world, but it gets me from point A to point B. My brother and I were recently camping at Pocahontas State Park in VA and had a blast.

The difference a week can make.

At this time last week I was looking forward to the 4th of July to go ride and not be hurried to get back for once(except to go out to for breakfast). Sunday (July 1) I had done a nice ride up at the Broad Mt. loop with 2 friends that I had not ridden with in over a year. During the course of that ride I fell once, and not really hard at all, but ended up denting the seat stay on Beowulf. After feeling disgusted with myself I made the comment, "Man, I'd rather dent my body than dent my bike, it costs less to fix!"

Second Annual Memorial Picnic July 22nd

2nd Annual Jordan Park ride and picnic in honor of our friend Larry Reimert. Dean the bikeman recently had the "birthday ride", so this is another event to celebrate an amazing person who inspired so many people. We will break up into groups, so many different ride levels will be represented. The picnic starts at 12:00 on the lawn, and rides will run throughout the afternoon. What we have is: meats, veggie burgers, plates and utensils, but we are looking for folks to supply the rest (pot luck). Please RSVP to either Liz at

Gettysburg riding?

Hi Folks- looks like Ill be in Gettysburg for a wedding and was wondering if anyone had some local knowledge or advice on rides out there. I would prefer something on the cross bike so I can leave straight from the hotel for a morning jaunt, because a day-long adventure wont be possible (otherwise I would make my way to Michaux). Thanks in advance!
