FYI Skiers and Riders

Bear Creek is open with 90% of terrain today at 4pm.

Blue Mt. is open also today, but with about 3 or 4 trails.

Unfortunately, since BC is open for winter the bike trail is closed until April.

Wax 'em up and let 'em rip, see ya on the slopes.

Bobke and the Gotham Cup

 cycling in the valley has a great tradition. in years to come mtn biking will have the same stories(already has a great legacy) as road does. i wanted to share something about Gotham that i didn't know until someone sent me a link to bobke's site.

As my term as VP of VMB nears its end, I've been thinking a lot about being an off-road cyclist in the Lehigh Valley and our three MTB clubs.

One, the Chain Gang, has been around forever and has its core group of long-time members (I've been one for ten years) -- many of whom have also become members of VMB. -- I think primarily because of what VMB has accomplished, namely Salisbury.

shameless plug

with light season upon us and seeing a little lighting talk on the forum i need to plug my light sponsor,Lupine, here. check out gretnabikes.com for the new models. they have a new model out that shines 1400lumens and is led. in fact , they only have leds now. HID'S are becoming a thing of the past . for those who have no idea what 1400 lumens would look like, check out a buddies nightrider hid(around 900 lumens) and add 500 to that. i've used and abused lupine for 3 years now and must say they are worth the money.

better than the first

today i got 80+ tropical miles in. and thanks to this internet thing i also see you guys must be getting a little chilly in the lv. or at least in two more days. so again this ride consisted of awesome scenery after the death defying 10 miles out of tourist land. rather than bore you with trying to explain my ride i'll share some highlights of the day.
1. seeing natives haul 150lb propane tanks on their mopeds only being secured by two bungees. these are the same size tanks that in the u.s. require a hazmat lisence and a special truck. not here, just two bungees

road riding in the dominican

not to make anybody jealous but a few hours ago i finished what may have been one of my nicest road rides while vacationing in dominican republic. before we left the lv i packed up a bike at the last second so i wouldn't go stir crazy. turns out, i'm glad i did. even though the worker at punta cana airport who searched my luggage didn't agree. his words, amaricana. translation- i can't believe this gringo couldn't leave home without his bicycle. what a fruitcake.
