obsession vs. passion

i remember rudy's blog about this and i thought i would pass this funny little diddy on......

I want to race a lot more next year to chase a series title. BUT the wife having experienced THIS year gave me the biggest stink-eye known to the cycling community. quote "if you want to race next year, you better get us something" your wish is my command......we just got an RV!!!!! now she doesn't have to stay home and wait for me. She can enjoy all the racing excitement with the comforts of home. Your welcome honey Blum 3

Props to some roadies

It's monday afternoon and my regular riding friend John T. calls and says we are going to do a tuesday night ride with some roadie guys he knows. They want to get back on some dirt and check out the trails at Sals.

I also met cham666(aka Jason) at the ride to show him around since he is also new to the area. He lives in Rich B.'s neck of the Stroudsburg area, but works across the street from LVI. This guy rides well and does it all. He has a trials bike, a FR/DH bike and he dirt jumps too. He has me jazzed up to try the Diabloween weekend out at Mountain Creek's Diablo Freeride Park

I am about to get Mid-evil

Got spanked real well this weekend racing the one-speed. It was a small group in Sonoma (Near Napa) a local grass roots series on some beautifull single track. Pro, Expert, and Single Speed Lined up together...only two pro dudes raced and they put a good twenty minutes on me in 20 miles. Only 5 one speeders and I took 4th with a tubless blow out. I was fast on the repair so it probably would have been 3rd at best.

educating drivers one at a time, my way

Well, today i was cut off at speed by a dude in a minivan making a right while i was going straight. Whoever has road riden with me knows there is always a chance of an argument. (Bud, remember when i chased a garbage truck down in avalon). So instead of braking like a normal person would do, i put my elbows up(thanks Jay) , pointed my inside knee(thanks damion) and took the turn with him while forcing him into the other lane of oncoming traffic. He stopped, then circled around his car and cursed him a new one .

Aluminum tubing source?

I am working on a pet project (light kit) and was hoping someone knew where I could get some 35mm inner diameter aluminum tubing. I only need about 3 inches of it, so I was hoping someone might have some scrap laying around....either that or get me access to a metal lathe, Bridgeport, or CNC machine (yes I know how to operate the machines) Biggrin

Bloggers needed

The sport of mountain biking truly is about all the different types of people from all walks of life that hit the trails every day of the year. I think it would be great to have a ton of blogging going on here to tell your story. It could be the journey getting back on the bike, making it a goal to get your kids off training wheels, or getting ready for your first race season. Either way to share stories, ask questions etc is probably one of the great things about mountain biking.

Seeking "Comfort" Tandem

My co-worker is looking for a resonably priced (if possible used, but in good condition) comfort tandem. He has a 15 year old step son, Jake, who is blind and deaf. Jake has had the opportunity to ride a tandem a few times, and loved it.

There is on caveat--Scott is 6'8", and Jake is about 5'9" or 5'10", so it would need to be a larger bike.

If anybody knows of someone who has a used tandem that fits this description, please let me know.

thanks!

free ride vs aggressive all mountain

hi everyone, i have an entry level full susp bike and looking to move on. my diamondback coil ex has a very springy rear susp which makes it nice for my casual goto get here rides and my 10 mile ride to work. i test road a iron horse yakuza aniki today and a 7 ponit 3. they are nice bikes but i can notice the extra weight which i kinda expect. one very big thing i noticed the very mushy rear suspesnion that is what im after for the softer trail rides and drop offs, minor gaps and stair cases i have been progressing with. is this the feeling i should expect and get used to...................?
