Season passes at Blue $100 till Oct. 31st

Well, Fall is definetly here everyone. With three weekends left we will be selling season passes for 2010 at $100. This will cover your riding the rest of this year and all of next year. Our 2010 schedule is packed with events and more new terrain ! Dress warm and enjoy the fall colors this Fall. On the 24th the Vertical Earth Series Awards will be at 4:30 in the Valley Lodge. Congratulations and big thanks to all the racers for coming out and competing in 2009. We had a great season and can't wait to roll out more new races for next year like Big Air DH.

more ticks at SALS / new anti-tick treatment trials

So I found a deer tick on my leg at sals after riding today. No biggie I found it got it off everything is OK. I started to think after a few beers.. if frontline is safe enough for our pets.. It must be safe enough for us.. no??? So I am opening up a new drug trials program to all willing volunteers. Unfortunately we are way to under funded to pay your efforts in cash but I believe a few beers would be doable for your efforts. The process is simple, test for a month the feasibility of frontline and riding at sals and report your interaction with ticks.

Receiving (and providing?) some inspiration

Although fall is my favorite season to ride, it often means allergy hell for me. Coupled with work deadlines, this sometimes results in a work/sleep regiment for me. If you haven't seen much of me recently, now you know why.

Anyway...

I have made it two events recently — each very different and yet somehow they ended up being similar. A few things about these experiences struck me this morning:

2 pics from South Mountain Bethlehem 11-Oct

Thanks to Jason for organizing this run. We started with Eric, Derrick W, Warren (Pokey) and someone with a single speed 29'r (Sorry forgot your name). Warren and I took a slower pace as I wasn't really ready for this advanced type of trail. I learned a lot though and kept it upright.

We ran into several others. One group was these two guys from Maryland, up here for the weekend riding Sals and other spots.

Pump Tracks

Went to Catty Woods yesterday. OMG Big stuff! JimmyD you weren't kidding when you said it's not a place for beginners. Met a couple of the builders & some riders got to see some guys JUMP, like being at a Fuel TV show in some ways. Nice peeps, I think the bigger guns were jumping the ramps right where we were standing just so we got the full grasp the air time. Really Cool!

Anyway... where are there local pump tracks around a beginner can go on? Actually I'd like to try & get some ideas for building one too. I have wooded acre fairly flat I can do one on.

Sals curiosity survey

I'm just curious about something when it comes to Sals. Where do people prefer to start from at Sals: Dodson, Constitution lower or middle lots, or from St. Luke's? Then I started thinking "Why" What's the reason?

Here is my reason:
Last 2 times we rode Sals we parked at Lower Consti and for some reason I had two really good rides there. Then I got to thinking about most of my rides at Sals; and my better rides are always the rides where I start down at the lower lot.
