Important! Steel City Enduro, Volunteers Needed

The Steel City Enduro is fast approaching and a lot of you have already volunteered to help. Thank you. Below is a list of everything that still needs done. Please take a look and sign up for anything you can take on. The race is the VMB’s largest fundraiser of the year, and last year’s event was hugely successful because we had a great turnout from volunteers. Hopefully we’ll have even more support this year. As a show of appreciation, each volunteer will receive a free Steel City Enduro pint glass and T-shirt.

Developing Potential New Trails near Jim Thorpe

VMB has been approached by IMBA and a local trail builder to explore developing trails on a parcel of land owned by the Bethlehem Water Authority (BWA). The land as I understand it is near Beltzville State Park, about 10 miles east of Jim Thorpe, and 20 miles southwest of Stroudsburg.

It's a big piece of land--about 15,000 acres--and the BWA board is open building trails on a 1,000-acre section as a test. If things go well, they'd consider more trails. The Board has asked for a proposal of what the trail system on those initial 1,000 acres would be like.

Building Wooden Skinnies for Steel City Enduro

In a week or two I'll be looking for one or two peeps to help with building some low consequence skinnies, teeters, etc for a temp course at the Steel City Enduro venue area.
Bob Kuntz is graciously donating his deck for this purpose! Biggrin I'll be picking up the wood next week.
Then I'm thinking we can resurrect and populate Pooh's Woods at Trex with the stunts afterwards---if we get permission of course :ihih: .

Do you have a Subaru (any year) and want to be on a billboard?

Hey all, I know some of (a lot of) you have Subarus, (Bob, Renee, others?) and I am in charge of this new ad campaign at Faulkner where we put Subaru owner's Instagram pics on our billboards on Rt 22, 378, etc. I need submissions, we went live and we're going to rotate pics every week or so. So far, I've only gotten the word out on our Facebook page and our website, and I haven't really gotten any submissions, so we're going to be using employee pics for a little until I get some owner pics.

Free Shoes

I'm cleaning out the basement and collected lots of great gear that needs a good home. I have shoes, lots of shoes, way too many shoes. Most are barely or moderately used. Size 42, and a couple pairs of 43s. Mostly mountain but also a few pair of road shoes. I also have some moderately used helmets (size medium, road and mountain) and a lot of hydration packs.

I need to get rid of it asap, like in the next 2-3 days. If you're interested let me know. It's all free. You just need to come take it away from me soon (or I can bring it to the board meeting Tuesday night).

New web site for finding mountain bike trails

It's still in Beta, but we should try to forward our various GPS tracks so they can add in our Lehigh Valley and beyond local trails. Looks very well done. I don't have any tracks, but I know a lot of you do. Check it out and maybe we can get our local trails on there sooner rather than later. Biggrinhttp://www.mtbproject.com/
