Gertrude Hawk Chocolates Fundraiser

Action Wheels Bike Shop and some it's riders have put together a last minute fundraiser to coincide with the Easter holiday. All proceeds will go to the VMB for spring trail maintenance and to the riders upcoming season. My husband John has noticed some of our trails, such as Salsbury, are showing some wear. We would like to contribute what we can to offset some of the costs in tools and such to maintain our great trails. We are planning a bike raffle as well in the next month or two. We will donate some proceeds from this event as well to the VMB.

Thoughts on a snowy day, as I dream of a warm ride...

By this time of year, I've had just about enough of riding in the cold. I'm "Jonesing" for warmer weather. I KNOW it's coming, but I also know what comes with it...

"Winter warm-up" days and early spring are always a tough time for me as an off-road cyclist.
I can't wait to shed some layers and hit the trails! There's always this new feeling of freedom when I can ride my bike and not feel bound-up like a mummy or Randy from "A Christmas Story."

A Bicycle Eaten by a Tree.

"On Vashon Island (near Seattle, Washington), a tree grows carrying a rather unusual passenger - an old bike. Apparently some kid chained a bike to the tree decades ago and never picked it up, leaving the tree no choice but to grow around the bike.

The tree and island gained some level of notoriety when Berkeley Breathed, creator of Bloom County, wrote a children’s book inspired by the bicycle eating tree entitled Red Ranger Came Calling."

Hey Bob

The web site is great. I direct a lot of people towards it, and I always get a great response to how informative it is. Quite a view into the depth and diversity of the community. I think you give a great face to the place. Job well done...
