Ride by yourself?

Answering the phone all day at work burns me out, so I get anti-social sometimes. Like yesterday. So, time to shut off the cell, spend a day in the woods & do a long ride by myself. Anyone ever get that way?

Long ride = American Standard? Yep.

Conditions were great! including Mud Road - very passable-. Unfortunately one of the lesser used singletracks was turned into an ATV highway.

Near the end I found that my heart still works fine and I wasn't so alone. Almost ran over a big ole timber rattler! (Dave, is this a timber?)

Rattling Creek Bash 2009, Thread 2 (cuz the other one was way too long!)

Just trying to get the word out though those that are already registered for the RCST 2009 BASH.

If you know anyone planning on getting to the BASH this year we have to place our T-shirt and our chicken dinner orders by the end of August. So please help get the word out to anyone you know that plan on attending and are NOT yet registered. If they care about getting fed(chicken dinner) and clothed(free T-shirt) they should get registered ASAP !!!

Thanks

mia culpa

my sincere apologies to joe g. and his neighbor, bill, for my post yesterday. i posted about our travels and while i thought i was being funny and satirically sassy, it was mean and i am sorry.
if they were to go on their next adventure without me, it would be understandable. i can definitely see the value of careful consideration when blogging in a public forum! there's always old school journaling in which to express oneself.

Garbage bags never work!

i'll keep it short b/c i'm tired:

got a call from a PGC land manager today telling me of a story where he saw two mtn bikers up at camelback riding into a trail with tools. He decided to wait and have a chat with them when they came out.

they came out, minus the tools and he asked "how's it going guys, what you up to" "just riding" said the riders(name left out for no reason but to create suspense).

"weren't you guys doing trailwork?" akward pause.........

they fessed up and said they keep the tools in a garbage bag in the woods.

The land manager let it go.

East Burke ramblings

I was invited to tag along to Vermont this past week with Joe G. and his neighbor, Bill, whose last name will remain anonymous, per his request. The specifics of the trip were that Joe had secured a condo in East Burke, home to Vermont's Kindom Trails network, and that Bill had volunteered to watch the dogs while we rode.

Colorado Surprise

It wasn't so shocking that John was leaving multiple, berating voicemails to get me out to his place in Colorado to do some riding and relaxing. After all, he's been harassing me about everything since the fourth grade, when my first not-so-friendly encounter with him on a field trip resulted in my sweet 80's comb in the back pocket being thrown deep into the woods. And Doug in San Francisco calling me to meet him at John's is an annual occurrence, so no surprise there.
