Fashion Firsts

Jr. Pro X racer Gunnar Bergey sent me this photo. His old man Randy shot it waaay long ago, and it is full of funny stuff. Oh, how fashion has changed

Scott Steps Up (and goes down in flames)...

Steel City Scotty has some big huevos. He is never one to back down an un-jumped double staring him in the face, even one that is not quite finished. This is the biggest set at Dale's, and as yet not landed.

Stepping off in mid-air with a Big Birthday Bailout at Dale's tonight. Hey, at least his feet made it over the lip!

Kiosk at Sals

Rode Sals this afternoon and found this kiosk map of "Walking Purchase Park" installed in the lower consti lot. It was secured with steel posts right in the lot. The map does not show any trails though. Any thoughts?

The Reality of Racing with Bonk, Jonk and Aonk

Lets face it -- racing is tough. You stay up late prepping yer bike, get up early to get there, ride around doing wheelies in water-logged jean-shorts an sneakers in the rain and have to wait around for Pops for hours to get done racing before getting back to homework. Ahh, life on the circuit.

Today's race at Granogue was ri-gawd-damned-diculous! Seriously knee-deep thick slop, 50lb. mud-encrusted bikes to push up hill, 50lb. mud-encrusted bikes to push downhill, cold rain and no crowds to cheer you on. What do you do? How do you motivate?

Lightning Strikes Twice (in Bill Brey's Undiepants!)

A few years ago at a Hibernia M.A.S.S. late in a race I was grinding up a climb and I saw Bill Brey up ahead. There were a lot of people lining the climb and Bill's wife to be was up on top. Seizing opportunity, I came up silently upon Bill, grabbed his lycra racing shorts and pulled them waaaay down hooking them under his seat pack before sprinting away up the hill as the crowd cheered. Bill was caught, stuck in the saddle with his pants down. He couldn't stand up and apparently couldn't get'em unhooked.

Battenkill Roubaix Camp

130 miles, 18 sectors of dirt, 6 sections of road over 15% grade bottom to top, all over 2 days of a killer race-training camp held right here in the Lehigh Valley. This shot is a dirt road sector off of Mud Run Road, north of Easton.

Great ride, awesome ladies team and never once a whimper about riding on dirt. All 8 ladies killed it, and kept saying "when's the next dirt road?!" Pretty damn inspiring.

Wasting Away in Boobaville

Riding with Joey is always an adventure, and I knew it would be trouble when he wanted to climb the Lehigh Furnace Gap dirt road. Big climb with a bigger backside, about 7 miles or dirt road riding and then climbing back over Rt. 309. In between, we had to stop in Boobaville. Strangely enough, the population went from 13 to 14. Boobaville indeed. Strang -- can always count on Joe for an adventure....
