
Jacobsburg State Park

An O.G. riding spot, the ‘Burg has 18 miles of dirt, grass, and gravel paths weaving around the Bushkill Creek. There are approximately 10 miles of maintained mountain bike loops that are mostly beginner and intermediate level trails. There’s a lot of flow and not a ton of elevation, but several punchy climbs and rocky sections keep things interesting.

Jordan Parkway

Location: Allentown, PA
Over decades of use, Jordan has developed into a super fun network of about 8 miles, twisting handbuilt trails. There’s a ton of flow, with sections of rocky tech, which makes the trail system great for newer riders as well as advanced mountain bikers looking for a shorter ride. The many intersections can make route finding challenging; first timers should follow the established loops.

Nockamixon State Park

Location: Quakertown, PA
Every inch of these mountain bike trails was handcrafted by Valley Mountain Bikers’ volunteers. This is some of the smoothest, flowiest singletrack in Pennsylvania. There’s little elevation change, stunning lake views, and a ton of little features, rollers, and sidehits that boost the fun factor. This gem of a trail system can stay wet after rainstorms, so please give it ample time to dry out again before riding.

Salisbury Walking Purchase Park

Location: Allentown, PA
Tucked behind St. Luke’s hospital near South Bethlehem, the 11 miles of handbuilt trails unfurl through nearly 500 acres of wild, remote-feeling open space. The trails are classic East Coast tech, with some new sections of flow. It’s home to the popular Steel City Enduro which features several long descents (and just as many hard climbs). You can ride the trails as a classic loop, or mix and match your favorite ups and downs.

South Mountain Preserve

Location: Emmaus, PA
Locals call this preserve South Mountain Emmaus (SME) and you’ll earn your turns. Built on South Mountain, the network now has 13 miles of maintained mountain bike trails. Most routes begin with a stiff climb, but once on top, many of the trails feature mellower grades but fun tech lines are everywhere. On your way to the top, you’ll pass house-size glacial boulders, take in views of the entire Valley, and be rewarded with some of the longest descents in the area.

Trexler Nature Preserve
Difficulty: 3/5

Location: Schnecksville, PA
Trex delivers flow like few other places in the East. The 8 miles of machine-built trails are smooth and fast. The green, blue, and black trails all feature immaculately made berms, rollers and table tops. Jack O’ Diamonds, a jump trail completed in 2023, features some of the biggest features on public land in Pennsylvania. There’s plenty of elevation, even on the green trails, so bring your climbing legs (or e-bike) to get in multiple laps.
