This is a really old trials photo of original EWR Bikes Factory rider Jason McLean, from around 1994. He is riding my personal bike for some reason, and showing killer form. Looking like he is just levitating, he is caught here in the transition from the initial launch arc'ing forward and absorbing the landing perfectly.
I think this was from a trials at Spring Mountain (near Lansdale) and he is doing a pretty big technical "up", especially considering from when this was. Slight downhill approach and no kicker -- just pure bunnyhop. Look at his form: elbows up and sucking the back wheel in, wrists and brake fingers rotating the bike up, bars forward and ready to land on the skidplate beneath the BB (I do not think he is going to the rear wheel). Look at his body posture. Like a pouncing cat Jason always exemplified what I called Pure Trials Form when he rode -- incredibly natural, flowing and efficient. Total core-awareness riding. A lot of the elements here are the same that we utilized in the Christmas Clinic at Sals. You can see the universal foundation. We will work on moves like this in the spring at the next clinic if you'd like.
Jason and I had some incredible road trips to the Nationals for many years, and he was always a top-5 ranked NORBA National Pro, as well as a great friend.
Just a cool shot I wanted to share.
