Important Trex Update--Good News

Hey Trex Riders,

I just had a good discussion with Wildlands. We've been given the greenlight to continue riding Killdozer until the removal begins again this summer. This is a positive outcome, and I think shows that the Wildlands and the county value our relationships and understand the benefit mountain biking brings to the park. I still believe completely that the future of mountain biking at Trexler is very bright, as long as we focus on maintaining a positive relationship with the land managers and focus on long-term opportunities.

Here are a few important details:

*Brain's trail past Buck Run will remain closed. We will need to access Killdozer from the tear drop trail. (See the map below.) **We can exit Killdozer on Brian's trail, as long as we head left back to Buck Run. It's up to us to honor this, and let other riders you see know this is the correct way to ride Killdozer. I think this is a very reasonable solution.

* As Greg pointed out earlier, the trail is in good shape. If there are any problem areas (we want the trail to be safe for everyone) let me know and I'll bring it up with the county and Wildlands (yes, the want kept abreast of any repairs we want to do).

* It looks like when AO removal resumes, they won't need to do any more clearing along HP or the section of Brian's trail that is open, so we won't need to temporarily close those trails like we initially planned.

* Wildlands and the Game Commission will be producing maps showing the trail closures and reroutes and will be posting those at Trex and on their site. We'll post them too, and work with local shops to get the word out. We'll try to keep everyone updated on any changes as quickly as possible.

Happy riding, everyone.
