I did a cool ride at Sals tonight. Bernie showed at the last minute with his new bike. His old Y bike has morphed again,this time into an upper end Trek Remedy.

Many of you know him as "Pickle". Or perhaps as a EWR Bikes Factory Team SS racer. Danny absolutely rips and is a hell of a coach, too. Hey Dan, nice headlight!

Just DO NOT call him "Smuggles".

Ever break a spoke on a ride? The Dutch Eagle is an industrious dude -- Dean broke one in the middle, so he fashioned a "patch" out of a Truvativ crank washer and split the difference. He's had it in for over 2 months now, and his wheel is still true.

Dean took us down the Lost Hollow today. Remote, nasty, unlike anything around here. Check out the size of the trees. Sworn to secrecy on the trailhead, but he'll show it to you if you ask and promise to keep its location under wraps.

Dean Leone, A.K.A. the Dutch Eagle, is a Carbon County legend. He took us to his "camp" today, to show us his handiwork.

Dean does a lot of trailwork, and he likes to camp in the woods. He made this oven with remnants of an old stove and the foundation of an ancient house. He actually camps here in the winter by making a fire and sleeping above the coals on the old bedframe he rebuilt from green wood and copper wire from the Gorge. His camp is just above the Gorge on his Lost Hollow downhill.
