If you're wondering what the rush is with Sunday hunting legislation in a Pennsylvania legislature that normally moves at a, um, "deliberative" pace here's the other part of the answer (along with legislators running for re-election next year wanting the hunting lobby's vote). From today's phillyburbs.com:
The PA state legislature's Legislative Budget and Finance Committee reported that the addition of Sunday hunting would likely add approximately 7,500 jobs and generate $57 million in state and local taxes annually. The TOTAL economic activity generated by Sunday hunting could top $804 million dollars a year.
It also added that current hunting is worth almost $3 billion annually with deer hunting alone generating $1.7 billion a year. These figures include travel/lodging/food, equipment, licenses, land purchase/rental for deer camps, etc.
You always gotta follow the money in politics and I guess we're just not buying enough  , bikes, and bike bling to make onto Harrisburg's legislative radar.
