I was talking with Kenny the other day, who made me think I needed to share some information. I wasn't thinking much about the idea that anyone who wasn't at the last meeting or two has no idea what's going on. And since Kenny claims I've been noticeably absent...
After two years as president, I decided that it was time to take a break. It's been a great run. I've found it rewarding and certainly worthwhile.
We're running a bit behind right now. We're overdue for the vote for 2011 officers. There are candidates for each position, except president (although I got word tonight that a good candidate may be stepping up). We do have a March meeting scheduled, where the vote will take place. Please try to make it out!
We wouldn't be where we are today unless some people were willing to give a little something back. I encourage you to experiment with where you fit here and expand your horizons as a cyclist in 2011 ...
Will you lead a ride? — drag a bunch of us out on a Sunday this summer to someplace most of us have never before ridden?
Will you introduce someone new to the sport this year and turn them on forever?
Maybe you'll show up for your first trail day ever at your favorite local riding spot.
Or perhaps 2011 will be the year you session your first downhill trail or attempt your first cyclocross race.
I'm sure that, regardless of your choice, you'll find your experiment with a new VMB/riding experience rewarding.
I'm proud of VMB's many accomplishments and the astounding diversity of riders this club represents. I look forward to sharing many more years of riding, fun events and new accomplishments with all of you.
Sincerely,
Doug
