HI all,
Well, I'm combining my trip to Stowe, VT for a Critical Care conference 3rd week of October with my first ever MTB mini vacation and looking for some tips. Best part is that while I'm at the conference hotel/meals are paid for by work!!!
Plan on head up to Kingdom Trails first for 2-3 days of riding. Still deciding on where to stay since that is on my dime.
Looking for recommendations about trails...I read prior post and Sidewinder, Webs, Heavens Bench were highly rated but want to make sure I don't get on any trails where I'll be over my head technically. I don't mind stopping and resting if its tough aerobically but would like to avoid getting onto trails I have no business being on.
Also, does anyone know if there are "guides" that will go out on a ride, show you around?
Since I'm going solo and am severely directionally impaired...I really can't read a map that well and have no sense of direction, really :O ...I was thinking it might not be a bad idea to hire a guide if that is available option.
I'll be at the Stowe Mountain resort for 5 days attending the conference. A 2 days are short and I'm staying an extra day. Bonus, they will store my bike, no need to keep it in the car! Yes!
I found a skills park, Mayo farm, I think not far from the resort that looks fun.
Any other trails nearby I should check out or bike shops that may do some guided rides?
Any casual can't miss restaurants, bars, etc?
Any all tips appreciated!!
