So a tubeless discussion has come up in the past, but I'd like some more specific feedback if thats possible.
I run Stans, usually in a Nevegal up front and a either a Nevegal lite or a SB8 in back on DT Swiss 4.2D wheels. I have various problems with it. I like the traction on rocky climbs when using low pressure (anywhere from 25-28), but way too often I rip the sidewalls on the tires and have to put in a tube. When racing, I use a bit more pressure (anywhere from 28-30) but still have sidewall ripping issues and also burping issues. The burping issues have been really bad this past race as it actually cost me 2 crashes, not to mention having to stop and put more air in twice. I suppose I should have stopped immedietly to put more air in them when the burp happened, but stopping when your like 2nd or 3rd isnt really what you want to do. It seems the faster and/or the more technical the ride, the more issues I have with it. When I used to run tubes, I didnt have the issues, but of course I didnt run pressures as low as I do now. Obviously I will be trying to up the pressure some more when racing, but if anyone has any suggestions I'd be happy to hear them. I'm gettin fed up buying tires all the time for one ride/race and then having to run a tube in them anyways. Or worse, burping air then gambling on trying to keep it rolling... and then losing the gamble.
