Greg-
The county folks panicked when I shared your map of the potential trails on the North Range with them. They are not ready to extend the trails as the map suggested. They want to confine the mountain bike trail area on the North Range to what has been cut but are now willing to allow some trails in the Central Range. There was some doubt that they would approve of that until now. The reasoning is that the Central Range trails will allow everyday riding, without conflict with hunting from Sept.- Jan. The North Range trails should be in use for some time before they will consider extended them. Bob’s prime concern is that his Jordan Creek Parkway trail system has been carved up by mountain bikers with unwanted renegade trails. He knows the VMB effort at TNP will not result in that but has no faith that other users of the system, riders that are not affiliated with VMB will run amok. Jan was willing to ok the additional trails on the Central Range as a trade off to not expanding the North Range system at this time. I think after numerous discussions and multiple trips to maps and the TNP with county folks, you are in the best place you can be, trails on both ranges with the opportunity to demonstrate the best side of mountain biking to the county, for the possible extension of the trail system in the future. If I thought you could negotiate a better deal I would set you loose on the county folks, but I think you should take what has been decided. Frankly I have pushed very hard and have expected a push back at some point and this is it. I know you may be disappointed but considering you have miles of interesting new trails in a new place should not be looked at as anything less than fantastic. Thanks for all you have done and will continue to do.

GOD DAMN,
Hmmmm, lets not overreact. Let it sit a while. Then we sit down with the County folks, eexplain that we do not rule at Jordan like we do at Sals.....and what an example Sals has been.
