500th Annual Tice-Medellin Thanksgiving Morning MTB Ride
Here it is folks!! The event you've all been waiting for. The 500th (yes I said 500th) Annual Tice-Medellin Thanksgiving Morning MTB Ride. The longest running MTB ride in the western hemisphere!!
Come on out Thanksgiving morning to ride South Mountain and be part of history. Past participants have included riders from all over the world making the trek to South Mountain for this annual event. It's commonly believed the Prilgrims came to the new world looking for religious freedom. NOT SO - they were trying to get to the Thanksgiving ride at South Mountain.
This is an event not to be missed. As always all are invited to attend. We don't want any missunderstanding like we had back in 1812. The British were so mad that they weren't explicitly invited they ended up burning the White House!!
And of course we'll have our famous pre-ride activities.
* Watch Rich Chug - always a crowd favorite. Place bets on how long Rich can chug beer without vomiting (editors note: This event has been canceled. Last years steel reinforced safety dome proved woefully inadequate against the caustic nature of Rich's digestive system - if you missed it last year imagine the corrosive effects of the blood from the 'Aliens' movies and you'll start to get an idea of the carnage last year. It was horrific!).
* Quiet Time With Bernie - see how long Bernie can remain quiet. We've tried this event in the past but our timing equipment has not proven up to the task. Last years atomic clock proved woefully inadequate. Measuring times down to the nanosecond just doesn't cut it. So this year we've borrowed some equipment from the Large Hadron Collider at CERN along with some the the worlds top physicists to help out with our timing problem. We are confident that this is the year we'll be able to get a reasonable measurement. (editors note: after meeting Bernie some of our top physicists are starting to doubt Einstein's theory of relativity).
So don't miss out on this event. There's even talk that old man Tice will make an appearance.
9:00 a.m. meeting at the South Mountain Park parking lot on top of South Mountain across from the OLD Channel 39 offices. This is a social ride suitable for all abilities.
