The difference a week can make.

At this time last week I was looking forward to the 4th of July to go ride and not be hurried to get back for once(except to go out to for breakfast). Sunday (July 1) I had done a nice ride up at the Broad Mt. loop with 2 friends that I had not ridden with in over a year. During the course of that ride I fell once, and not really hard at all, but ended up denting the seat stay on Beowulf. After feeling disgusted with myself I made the comment, "Man, I'd rather dent my body than dent my bike, it costs less to fix!"

Well fast forward to Wed. morning on our ride at BC. At the top my buddy John T. and I catch our breath and begin the fun descent. I don't even get 2 turns down the hill and I am stopped dead when my foot catches a log that only stuck out inches into the trail. It sends me :moon: over ears in an instant and my first reaction is hands out. Duhhh. I should've kept flipping, I would have landed on my helmet and Camelback and most likely without any serious injury. BUT that is not how our brains work, right! Well, did you ever see something bend farther than it was designed to do? That's what happened to my fingers and hand.

So, here I am, 1 week later, struggling to type this damn blog with a splint on my left hand. If I could rewind one week I would take back the comment..."Man, I'd rather dent my body than dent my bike, it costs less to fix!"

Time is money and I am going to miss the time on my bike for the next 4-6 weeks. I think I'll be grateful the next bad crash I have that I can walk away from even if it means walking along side a broken bike.

Amen!
