Please Read - "Sals: Where Do We Go From Here?"

After discussing the Sals situation with a number of people and unfortunately not being able to talk to a number of others that I'd like to have, I wanted to let everyone know a couple of things on my mind:

1.) After talking with Lou, I made the decision to remove the super-D sals thread. I don't take censorship lightly and dislike doing it. There were several constructive posts but overall it was creating divisions among a good group of people that all care about what Sals was traditionally, what it is currently and what it may become in the future. If you disagree with this action, you cancertainly talk to me about this or anything else anytime. I don't expect everyone to agree with me. PM me on the site or give me a call at home at (215) 538-2527.

2.) I (and Lou) will be meeting with several key people to talk about some things, hear some points of view, see where we have some common ground, and work from there. At this point, I'm not as interested in fingerpointing. This is a club with a moderate-sized group of highly-involved individuals who all bring important skills to the table that we need. I don't want to see us lose any of those individuals over this stuff.

3.) The now revised April 23rd Membership Meeting agenda will (apart from a few quick updates) deal largely with discussion of the Sals issue including freelance trailbuilding, logride philosophy, the Sals trail committee, scheduling trailbuild/maintenance days, communications about modifications by authorized Sals trailbuilders, etc. [Some people are probably cringing reading this right now but we HAVE to talk about this.]

Everyone is invited to attend; everyone is invited to voice their concerns in a professional way that's about the trails and not personal; everyone's going to hear where everyone else's coming from; and everyone getting out of there at a sane hour, I promise. As we'll be in a restaurant, there will be disagreement but there won't be arguing. Rich Butz, sargeant-at-arms, will assist me with that. Wink

4.) Obviously, we're not going to have a solution at the end of that night but we're going to hopefully get enough input and maybe even achieve a "reset" among some people to begin planning a philosophy for Sals to better handle these issues in the future while preserving and improving Sals within some sort of official plan we can all get behind. There WILL be a series of trail build days posted for Sals in the near future and members are encouraged to begin offering suggestions for work beginning now.

We have a lot of great members who've known each other a long time, we're enthusiastic about our trails and our sport, and this club has a lot of positive projects in the works right now. Thanks to those who managed to read all the way down to here - you're dedicated.
