XC Skiing

It is that time again (finally) that I can go skating (XC skiing like you see in the Olympics). The conditions are great and, luckily, there is a great nordic center that is not to far away.

Blood Drive

I recently heard an announcement on the radio that was very disturbing to me. It mentioned about critically low levels of blood in the valley area hospitals, to the point where surgery's would have to be postponed or canelled. It hit me hard and really bothers me. Heaven forbid any of us or our families would need to have emergency surgery due to a riding injury or for any other cause. I've given blood in the past and it isn't that big a deal.

I was thinking that the club should anty up some blood for the good of the community. Maybe even organize it as a ride to the Center on a 1 or 2 times yearly basis.

March Local Epic

When I get back up to PA in March, somewhere between the 12th and the 18th, I'm planning on doing a local epic, I'm calling it the "Rocks and Roads ride" I will probably start from SMC(down the street from my house + COFFEE), start by riding South Mountain Emmaus, riding from there to ride to Sals, ride the loop at Sals, ride the road to Lehigh, ride Lehigh, ride the road back to Emmaus, most likely I will finish it with a loop at South Mountain Emmaus to end the day. It will most likely be the middle of the week, or saturday since I am planning on racing March 11th in VA. It will be along, good day. Plenty of food and water needed, easy pace though, still lots of climbing, and can't forget technical!

VMB Forums

I was wandering around NEMBA's site and noticed they have a lot more forums than we do. Do you think it would be cool to add the following forums to our site?

Tire selection

Lately I've been torn between going full Maxxis, or full kenda(had an offer for kenda stuff). I've been maxxis faithful for my DHing, and my XC has varied brands. Overall both don't have any problems with dry weather tires, and have some offering towards mountain cross and dual slalom which i started racing this year. Kenda is where i'm having problems deciding if they have what i need for MTX and DH. DH i'm more concerned with the muddy races like snowshoe and not being able to hook up there, and if we have a muddy/slick dual slalom in the collegiate series again like we've had this year. any feed back that yall have on tires from either for those types of riding and conditions.

Rotten Post Office Box

I paid for a year last December. Thinking it was fine, I went there today and of course the box was closed. They closed it November 30....Ugh!!!!

I reopened it and paid for another year but any mail in it was "returned to sender".

This is 2007 right? The only way to know when the rent is due- 15 days before the due date, they put a wood block in the PO Box. If not paid when due, they close it out in 10 days. No phone, no email, no lights, no motorcars, no luxuries.
