$50 to spend at Saucon Valley Bikes! Nominate a volunteer!

It's that time again. We have a $50. gift certificate graciously donated from Steve at Saucon Valley Bikes for one lucky VMB volunteer to be awarded during the membership meeting July 30th at Hello Burrito. Please send me your nominations and I will forward them along to the board to be voted on before this upcoming membership meeting. And don't forget to patronize Saucon Valley Bikes for supporting VMB and all that we do to make our trails as incredible as they are. FYI last gift certificate went to Karen Krasley.

Thanks,

Renee

FOR SALE - VINTAGE EASTERN WOODS RESEARCH FRAME

Picked this (see link below) up last Fall with the intent to restore it. At this point I don't know when I'll have the time and/or resources to do the restoration. And also I'm starting to be pulled back to road riding (at least gravel roads) and I'm looking to free up funds to buy a suitable new bike. The water bottle bosses were recently replaced by Dreesens Bicycles. Asking $500 (that's what I have in it). I'm hoping it can go to a good home and have a proper future. PM me here or email at bkuntz@blackmans.com for more info.

new guy

Hi guys
I just wanted yo introduce myself. I just moved to the area and I am looking forward to all the riding opportunities in the area. I'm pretty blown away by what you guys built here. There isn't a scene like this back home.
I haven't ridden a bike for a couple of years but I really missed it. I'm not as busy as I was and I thought it would be a great way to get back in shape after 3 years of neglect. I bought a bike last week now I just gotta lace up a front wheel and figure out how to set up a derailleur and the hydro brakes and I'm in business.

Jordan is underwater - Monday

Was out for the Jump start ride this morning and had to ride the roadway along the creek. The trails have about 3-5" of standing water in any flat spot - at least the ones we could see. The ol' rain gauge in Macungie was empty but apparently that part of town must seen a cloud burst.
From the looks of it, it may take few days to dry out.

Beginner Help

Hey guys,

I just decided I want to start mountain biking. Im 21 and I don't have much experience other than I know how to ride a bike. I'm a big skier so Im no stranger to the mountains or going downhill super fast haha. I was planning on starting on South Mountain Bethlehem because I live close by, however Im reading that it is more of an advanced trail. Does anyone have any trail suggestions or tips? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Kev

Moto Cutting Corner at Sals

This is unfortunate -- a moto rider at Sals has kicked open a line around this tree on the way down from Dodson going towards Constitution. The normal line goes outside to the left of the tree up and over the big downed log. Most of the root structure that created the obstruction to his path were broken out, and the opening is big enough to sneak a quad through. His tracks were pretty much around the whole loop east of Constitution -- no other cut-throughs or burn outs, but we will have to close this one off. Never saw the rider. Hope he doesn't decide to show up with his buddies.

New Trails on Wildlands Conservancy Land in the Poconos

Hello all I received an e-mail last week from Wildlands Conservancy to pass along some exciting news about some new trails being built on a 600 acre parcel being managed by Wildlands Conservancy. It is located off 115 near Pocono Raceway in Long Pond PA. http://www.wildlandspa.org/maple-tract-preserve-%EF%BF%BC/

Wildlands is currently working with an IMBA group called the Anthracite Mountain Pedalers and wanted to include VMB members for awareness of the property. Chris Murphy from AMP suggested we send some guys up there to check it out, and test ride it.
