VMB Awarded Its First $Grant$

It's true: While we rely on our incredible members and volunteers to maintain and improve our trails, we also need money. This week, we were give a little extra cash to install trail signs at Sals. At an awards ceremony at the Archibald Johnston Conservation Area in Bethlehem, the Lehigh Valley Greenways awarded VMB a $1,000 grant. It's our first grant ever and board member Lisa Ronca was there to accept it. The money will cover the cost of signs and blazes. Jet Signs in Palmerton has offered to provide at a discount directional signs with trails names, which we will install at key intersections. Thanks Jet!

This is huge news for VMB. Applying for grants is a priority for us this year and to be awarded one so quickly is the result of a lot of hard work from members, and shows the value our trails are to our communities and other conservation and recreation groups.

We expect to secure the funds within the next month, and have signs installed before the Steel City Enduro, on July 16. This is just the first of many grants I'm sure we'll win in coming years to help fund important and ambitous trail projects to help make riding here sweeter for everyone.

Thanks to the Lehigh Valley Greenways and to Jet Signs for their generous support.
