Yesterday, after the decision to call off the group ride was made, at around 5:30 I decided to give SME a go on my own, as the rain had let up to just a drizzle. (I would have called off the group ride too, given the conditions at 3:30 or so).
Anyways, having not been there before, I fired up my EveryTrail on my Android, and attempted to do the whole outside loop, going clockwise from Alpine St.
I lost the trail right where the black trail crosses over the power lines/sandy area. If you look on the map and draw a straight line continuing from 31st st to the black trail, that's where i got lost.
Does the black trail cross over, or do you ride on that open fire road/whatever area for a while?
Having not been there before and with darkness looming, I turned around and explored the lower trails for a bit, but I'd like to learn the proper route.
Also, there be some huuuuuge trees crossing all over the path on orange and I think blue. Not like how they are set up at Sals, these just look like they fell and nobody cleared them. I don't see chainring marks on them, either.
