Trex Update

Hey everyone, here's the latest on the trails at Trex and update on the Autumn Olive removal.

The county will be clearing the section of Buck Run and expects to have it open for the weekend. This is the uphill doubletrack corridor from Brian's Trail leading up toward Broken Arrow. Once it's clear it would be great to get a report from someone on the actual conditions--to make sure it's safe and in good riding condition.

Once Buck Run is open, the county plans to post signs at the Buck Run/Brian's Trail intersection directing riders up Buck Run toward the Teardrop Trail and Broken Arrow. They will also be posting that the remaining section of Brian's Trail is temporarily closed until after the AO is cleared. Killdozer also remains permanently closed. All other trails remain open.

It was mentioned earlier, but the county/Wildlands/and game commission are hiring a new contractor to complete the AO removal. The Game Commission's budget issues have created some delays, but they say RFPs will go out this spring and expect work to resume by July. The hope is that the new contractor will be able to cut the AO in smaller pieces, which will then be mowed before grass is replanted. Once the AO removal is complete, we can begin planning for a replacement trail.

In the meantime, enjoy the trails, be safe, have fun, and enjoy some of the great new views at Trex.
