So, the past week I've been kicking around the idea of buying SRAM X.9 rear derailleur and shifter to replace the Deore setup on my new bike. Partially because I'm used to X.9, but partially because I prefer the 1:1 actuation ratio and having both triggers on the thumb-side.
But I couldn't really justify it, since the parts already on the bike worked fine and all... until I caught a nice thick branch/stick in my chain today at Sals and bent the RD. 
So I guess now I HAVE to buy it. That settles that!
I sort of bent it back and technically it works fine but I should probably replace it in case the metal was over-stressed which could lead to another failure in the future
