2015 Steel City Enduro

Date:
Sunday, June 28, 2015 - 8:00am to 5:00pm

SCE_LOGO.jpgRACE DETAILS: The Pro and Open race courses feature five timed stages that combine cross-country, trail and downhill riding. The course highlights the fast, technical, purpose-built mountain bike trails at Salisbury Walking Purchase Park, and emphasizes overall riding ability more than any single style. Riders can use any type of bike, but full-suspension models with 4 to 6 inches of travel are ideal. It will be a challenging, but fun, race. Each timed Special Stage will be run as an individual time trial, with riders departing in 30-second intervals. There will be four non-timed Transfer Stages between each Special Stage. These allow riders to regroup with friends and roll along to the next timed section. More details on the individual stages will follow.

TIMING: Timing will be done using the SPORTident system. Racers will receive an electronic chip that they will “punch” at the start and end of each Special Stage to record their time.

CATEGORIES: There will be pro and cat 2/3 categories for men and women, plus a Masters 45+ cat 1/2/3 category. This year's race is part of the MASS enduro series and our categories are aligned with those of the series.

EVENT INFO: The race will be held Sunday, June 28. Registration is online at BikeReg.Com, and closes June 26. There will be day-of registration from 8am to 9:30 am. Racers can pick up registration packets, swag bags, and timing chips the morning of the race, from 8:00 to 9:00. There is a mandatory racer meeting at 9:45. Stage 1 will start at 10 a.m. Racers must begin the final stage (Stage 5) by 2:15 p.m.

RACE FEE: Registration costs $45 and all proceeds go directly to support local trail systems. The race is organized by Valley Mountain Bikers, a 501(c)3 non-profit volunteer organization that builds, maintains and promotes trails in and around Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley.

EXPO: The race expo will include food vendors, sponsor booths, kids races, and other events. It is also the site of registration and awards.

DIRECTIONS: Event parking will be held in the parking deck at the east end of St. Luke’s Hospital (Google Maps: St. Luke’s University Health Network) at 801 Ostrum St. in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The parking garage is located on the corner of Ostrum St. and Mohican St. Race registration will be held a short walk behind the garage at Reeb Millworks.
